Lush Karma Komba- Solid Shampoo Review!!
The idea of solid shampoo's was a bit like "Eh" to me. Boyfriend said "Nobody uses shampoo bars" but some surfing on Lush's website got me excited like a kid looking at a red sugary popsicle waiting to be devoured.... fast forward Karma Komba arrives in my mail.
I have oily roots, wavy and moderately thick hair. My ends are a bit dry because of my highlights but otherwise I think they are normal (not oily or dry). The website doesn't specify which shampoo bar is designed for normal/dry/oily/wavy hair so do not expect much help there.
I bought mine based on reviews and some research which was a result of boredom at work.
(Do you do this too? Or Am I just special? 😎)
I didn't take any time to adjust to a shampoo bar.. it lathered well for me. The bar isn't soft, it does stick to the tin but that isn't an issue for me. I didn't find too much of product getting stuck or wasted as I see people complaining about or maybe I just have lesser issues 😈.
Karma Komba smells amazing and the lather is unbelievable... BUT (here it comes to spoil the fun) it stripped my hair and was a bit drying for me. I had to condition cuz my hair felt like dried straws. That solved the problem temporarily though... read on you'll know why!
Now here's the dampener...The next day my roots got oily 😞😞... yes the very next day. Tell me about how annoying this can get.
I wrote to Lush...Rebecca got back to me and this is what she had to say:
"With regards to Karma Komba, I would say with this product using less is best, and due to the amount of oils that is in the product it does take some time to wash out completely. I have noted this feedback and passed it along to the relevant department to see if any other similar comments about the product have come back. That way we can have a look and see if it is something to do with Karma Komba. However, if you do continue to use it I would definitely recommend using less."
If this has oils then it should be more conditioning and not drying IMO. Is it all the SLS that does this? So now that brings me back onto my quest for a nice shampoo and I love lush so it has to be from Lush!!
Rebecca has suggested Godiva, Blousey and Curly Wurly for more conditioning options. I've read amazing reviews on Blousey and Curly Wurly but I'm skeptical cuz these shampoos have more oil in it than Karma Komba... (fingers drum rolling)... still having second thoughts.. any suggestions?
